A control system is often specified where a number of audio visual devices are used in one room. This comprises a control processor by either AMX or Crestron. These are the two leading manufacturers of dedicated AV control systems. We are happy to use either and the final decision will often be dictated by the user interface requirements.

The processor is connected by serial or infra red interface to the various devices and has the advantage of always recalling the "default" settings when the room is reset. The equipment in the rack may include audio and video switchers or matrices to route the signals, scalars to convert the image from video to say, XGA, and of course a number of video and audio amplifiers. Much of the actual cabling and distribution uses CAT5 cable. It has the advantages of superb quality and a much lower profile than the older conventional coaxial cable.
